Continuing in role.

It's amazing how familiar this all feels except this time I'm doing it mostly in Spanish,  it's a very mixed class and today included extra family members including a 3 year old and the local dogs. One of the teachers joined us again and brought me a delicious nutmeg biscuit. Similarly to yesterday, ten children arrived at first and they just kept coming.  I arrived by 8.20 on the scooter and the deputy head was cleaning. It was a wet morning so I had some reservations about the scooter but it went fine.

We began with revision of yesterday's words and I added more from  their paintings.  The children are quite shy but a couple are really good at the English words and several are quite talented with their art. Similarly to yesterday we did some writing and illustrating then either completed yesterday's or began a new painting. Firstly I demonstrated how the brushes and paint can be used.
Amada took me to the library where I saw the very sad state of the few old instruments, meaning the school cannot participate in the national festivals. I have noted that for a priority and also the 20$ per month for the internet, which would open up so much more for them.
After clearing up we waited for Jose  to bring lunch from Dreamland Tours. A delicious lunch of tilapia, rice and vegetables with plantain.
I had a free afternoon, there hasn't been much time off,  and I could have lazed on the porch, but decided to walk instead.  On the way, the local lads were on the bridge in their trunks, I think washing themselves and their clothes.they had their ghetto blasters on having a dance so I asked if anyone could join and did a little dance which was greeted with hoots and whistles. On my return journey I got a friendly wave from them all, what great attitudes here, such fun.  And where better to relax than to head for the Ojo de Agua  for a swim. It was very pleasant , the water crystal clear and a pleasant temperature, but there were rather a lot of noisy tourists there. I was somewhat amused at the sign that translated, thank you for not urinating in the changing rooms. Clearly someone must have thought the little brick building with a shower had a different purpose! I met my friendly taxi driver who greeted me with his usual ' hello profe' offering me his taxi services if I didn't want to walk home. But I thought the walk would do me good. However I did buy a doughnut for 5c about 10p, from the little shop entering Santa Domingo, then picked up a snack at the pulperia.
I have just prepared some worksheets for tomorrow with random words in English. Remembering pre technology days, but theses teachers still have to do everything by hand.
