Shopping in Moyagalpa

Today Tuesday, I visited Urbaite for lunch. Lou collected me. We checked the shopping lists; we have one for today, one is being dealt with in Managua, the cleaning equipment, all the stationery is being done by the libreria in Moyagalpa, and also today the technician is mending the speaker in the secondary school. Whilst we were in Moyagalpa we arranged for the IT technician to check the computer.   We sorted some arrangements for the week and chatted about the excursion day. It appears I will be paying so I did a bit of fierce negotiation both about transport and food.

We headed to the bus stop where we met one of the teachers, she seemed to speak well of the new head,  unlike Amada. We waited for a while whilst Marvin kept hopping off to chat to various people. He knows everyone.

We got on the bus which was pretty full. I realised I couldn't use my right arm to hold on so it was a bit tricky. The teacher invited me to sit on her lap which I did, but trying not to out all my weight on her meant it wasn't very comfortable. Fortunately she knew how to save the next available seat so I was a bit more comfy. Then I was able to appreciate the decor of Jehovah is my pastor and God is my saviour,  plus the loud lively music! Feels like real life though.
The look is not associated with how I feel, I was trying to get a photo that showed what was going on!

We arrived in Moyagalpa and headed to the Pali supermarket.

There are two supermarkets in Moyagalpa, this one seems reasonable and you can use a card to pay!
I picked up some supplies, and we also found all the cleaning substances. Excuse the pun but I think we pretty well cleaned them out!

We bought gallons of disinfectant, bleach, cleaner etc.
We parked the trolleys and went off for our other shopping, which involved two trips to one ironmongers and one to another, before we found our extension lead, hoses, doorlocks. We couldn't buy the surge protector cables but will collect those on Friday from the IT technician, and we added a guillotine to the goods in the stationery shop.
After a rest and refreshment, it was time to thinkmsbout the return journey.

I suggested we couldn't get everything on the bus, so we tried out one of Marlon's friends and got a taxi for $12 back to Urbaite. What's more he helped us load and unload everything.  I couldn't imagine how we would have got everything to the bus stop and there was further to walk home once we got there. After returning to Urbaite, I got a call from Patrick who had arrived in Santa Domingo.

En route we were stopped by a herd of cows making their way across the road. Just a different kind of rush hour!

So back at the hotel, I had a catch up with Patrick, a surprise visit from Allan, Lourdes and Marcelo to apologise for the transport problems today. But there followed some negotiation about the price, I'm trying to negotiate the same price I pay Marvin's neighbour. Now I say, I'm not a tourist , I'm helping the community so I expect the best price! I've learnt to be a bit tougher!

In the night I had a bit of an accident, quite stupid really. I fell asleep leaving my travel element boiling water for tea.  Big mistake, as I fell asleep and awoke in the middle of the night, by which time my cup was empty, red not and had melted a lovely hole in the plastic table. So the element is in the bin, the cup cleaned up and I have to speak to the owner about mending or replacing his table! Now I will trip to the kitchen in my pyjamas and use the micriwave. Much safer! Potential disaster but no one was hurt!
