Peace and Hope delivery

At long last the Peace and Hope delivery arrived. All the boxes were safely delivered and opened yesterday, but there was no posh green chair for Amada. I wonder where that went?





Jose was invited to the school to open and sort the boxes and everyone seemed suitably happy.

Delivery of 18 boxes!

Over the weekend I was advised to rest by my helpers here; they think I have been too busy,  but I had four visitors from the family on Saturday and a birthday party on Sunday involving musicians. It was a great traditional occasion and it was lovely to spend time with the family again and meet some new people. We were also celebrating the graduation of Jesus and Jordy. Amada didn't arrive. She has lost her telephone and we cannot seem to get in touch. Monday had been organised by Jose and was the day of the box delivery, which had involved him in a lot of organisation. On Sunday he took funds to Moyagalpa which were passed to the ferry captain and signed for. On Monday Marlon, our taxi driver,  drove to Managua, collected the parcels and tried to do a bit of shopping. He brought everything back to San Jorge. Final farewells

On Saturday I had a lazy morning enjoying the view and the beach before going to lunch with Anna, Antonio and the family. After lunch we walked to Martin's coffee plot where he had grown his own coffee.  He presented me with a mountain of coffee which he had grown, roasted, ground and packed especially for me. He said it was for me, my brothers and sisters  and to give to the people who have helped with his project. What a lovely family. Edward is his child but he has taken on two daughters of his wife, who had all been abandoned by their father. He clearly loves them all very much and works very hard for them. He is a quiet and sincere man. On Sunday,  I had a short visit from Jesus, at the hotel, then headed to Marvin's where we awaited the family to go to the ferry. We were all quite quiet, thinking about how things will not be the same once I head for home. They still talk a lot about when I am going to live here. I had a minibus outing to say farewe...

Retail therapy with a difference!

For further information on how the project started  Click here To donate  The forgotten children Yesterday, Tuesday, we left early. I had to wake the security guard to get out for my motorbike ride! We all gathered at Marvin's house as various other members of the family were coming for a lift, too. Allan wanted to buy football shoes, Jordy needed to register at the university, and we were dropping Matt off for work at the finca. Fanor arrived with the taxi laden with palm branches and delivered us to the ferry. It wasn't the same ferry as last year, the big Dutch one, which was in for repair, but a smaller one. Marlon met us in Rivas, first stop breakfast, as some had eaten very early and some hadn't eaten at all! Hemer needed energy for the day's decisions!
