Final week.

Sunday was a relaxing day.  I was visited in the morning by Martin and Veronica. He wanted to share the reasons behind him not joining  in the family excursions. He gave me a bottle of honey to bring back. Sadly the coffee harvest has not been good this year.
I went to Urbaite where we lunched at Esmeralda's. We explored a couple of areas on the return walk, and passed the afternoon relaxing in quiet companionship with a bit of sewing.  Unfortunately later at the Miraflores the other residents were a bit noisy, and I am thinking the large group at the weekend may be so, so I am looking out for another option. Tonight's family looking round are pretty noisy too. But I have booked Charco Largo for the last few nights, more expensive but a bit of a treat as I didn't get off the island again.

This morning I had a visit from Rick (Fiona's brother in law) and we chatted and went for a walk along the beach.   I think we have both learnt similar things from our time in Nicaragua. Someone else who will understand what makes me tick!  Later I visited Villa Paraiso for a refresco and quiet read;  on the way back I saw Patrick at Costa Azul, so joined him for a chat. We were joined by the owner Ernesto, son of the 106 year old across the road. I got quite a few kisses, and he showed me a lovely room overlooking the lake with a balcony. It was very tempting but $30 per night with breakfast, and could become noisy if more people come for this event at the weekend.
Allan collected me at 12 for lunch where I joined Marvin, Sylvia and Jordy. Marvin helped me organise my new hotel at the best prices through his web of contacts. All is organised with Oscar from, Miraflores delivering me to Marvin's on Thursdsy morning and a taxi later in the day.  There were a few things to think about, for example the garafon ( large water bottle) which I have promised to leave with Marvin, can stay at his house and I can fill the smaller bottle each day. I have been gradually giving away those things I won't need to take home, so luggage is reducing in one way. But another bag of gifts today from Sintiope has increased it in another way!
We walked to Sintiope,  Jose caught us up, and we got a copy of the accounts printed off to leave with Marvin.

At Sintiope we spent the time before the event checking the exterior lights that had been discussed and fixing up the sprinkler on the hose.
This will be a much more effective way of damping down the dust.
We also checked out the toilets, finding that possibly only  minor repairs are needed to get two unused toilets back into action.

Later we met the the directiva, a parent group, who seemed quite enthusiastic, so we chatted with them and explained what was needed. If the teachers don't have the skills or inclination to rectify these problems, perhaps we can work with the community.  The tank also needs work, a good clean, a new lid and a direct tap off the mains for drinking water.

None of this is expensive and I'm sure any grant application would be helped by evidence of self help.
About three quarters of an hour after the appointed time celebrations began, after a few photo shoots with the children!

It was a delightful event with all the classes contributing. I was touched by the song by the preschool class and the little messages on hearts they gave me.

After the presentations were over I received a bag of gifts including another tee shirt! And lots of expressions of gratitude. Then food was presented!

I really feel things are beginning to embed now, and that's really down to Marvin, his hard work and connections and the trust others have in him. And me being here longer has developed and strengthened trust and relationships.
