A long weekend
My weekend started Friday after the culmination of classes yesterday. On Monday all the children start school. Today I had arranged to go walking with Jose's sister and her family, so Sylvia, Marvin and Jordy. They are a lovely family and I have been helping Jordy with his English. Sylvia had had similar medical issues to me so we have a lot in common. José has dropped out this week due to health issues but we have achieved our goals and plans so no matter. I just hope he is ok before I leave the island so we can spend quality time together. I have had to make decisions about how to take things forward with the school and am now quite clear. This morning I visited a rather lovely hostel over the road overlooking the water with lovely gardens, where I know they will offer the rooms at 10$ also.
However it was my friend Patrick from our current hostel who suggested I look, so we went together and when I asked she showed us the room with the ' matrimonial' bed! I had a little chuckle to myself.

My family visit was scheduled for 10.30 but they arrived at 9am, which doesn't quite fit in with Nica time! But I was ready so we headed off to Santa Domingo beach, as I did last Sunday, but this time with my flip flops to negotiate the water. They had closed the pulperia especially so as to go out with me. I hope I don't incur the wrath of the locals..... They had cooked 'with love' a dish of steamed fish and plantain which we are sitting on the beach. Well thry insisted I eat the lions share and fortunately it was a small fish as it wasn't long since breakfast.
We also saw a chap fishing with a spear gun and goggles but he wasn't very successful. About as successful as my fishing!
It is a beautiful walk along the beach with a few streams to negotiate. Last weekend wevttied the fallen log but my balance isn't what it used to be so I opted for the damper option of walking across.
We walked as far as the hotel for coffee again and returned for lunch at Juliana's before they left on the bus.
